Still I Rise
by Maya Angelou
You may write me down in history With your bitter, twisted lies, You may trod me in the very dirt But still, like dust, I’ll rise.
Does my sassiness upset you? Why are you beset with gloom? ‘Cause I walk like I’ve got oil wells Pumping in my living room.
Just like moons and like suns, With the certainty of tides, Just like hopes springing high,...
To see a world in a grain of sand and a heaven in a wildflower, hold infinity in the palm of your hand and eternity in an hour. - William Blake
Don’t use skepticism as a thinly veiled excuse for inaction or remaining in your...

SLIP OF THE TONGUE by adriel luis
I wear lipstick,
for my lips stick to the ears of men,
so they can experience in surround sound my screams of agony
with each lash of rulers, measuring tape, and scales,
as if my waistline and weight are inversely propotional to my value as a human being.
See my lips, they stick, but not together.
Rather, they flail open with flames to burn down this culture...
things I've learned about myself:
the more I try to fit in, the less I can force myself to focus on the important things, like school.
this break will be a very revolutionary time for me.
One of the things she had learned early in her life was that if you discovered...

I just found a website that posts live videos of surgeries!!! This is the best day of my LIFE!!! :D
biotech asked: Hello, I know I don't follow you and you don't follow me but I saw your post to jtotheizzoe about being worried about school and it hindering your chance of going into the science field. And being a girl, in the science field, with a past of hard times while in school I thought I should give my advice. :D Of course, don't worry, about one or two bad grades if your in high school or...
only 3 men have ever been truly interested in me… It’s because I think too much. And clue people in to the things I’ve figured out about them.
Moral of the story: no one like people who pay too much attention and don’t fall for bullshit.
I’m having some deep thoughts about the world today…
Poverty happens because people follow their own desires instead of sacrificing for the good of everyone. The US makes up less than 10% of the world’s population but uses more that 25% of it’s resources. Everyone can not live even close to our standard of living. There are already millions of people who don’t have enough because their country’s riches are being concentrated...
Society to often dictates our lives. Everyone wants to get married by 25 and have 2.5 kids and live in a white house surrounded by a white picket fence. Where is the variety? Where is the creativity? where is the exploration? When do you truly live when this is your life? Because I don’t choose this life for myself, as a woman I’m seen as masculine, as trying to be something I’m...
Do people think about their decisions?
Hormones too often dictate the decisions of people’s lives. We have children because parts of our brain tell us to continue our genetic line…. If it were really about raising people to do right in the world, we would adopt instead of marginalizing another person’s life for the sake of our own desires. People claim I’m immature because...
I never want to get married...
because I never want a binding contract to be the reason someone is with me.
because I never want either of us to get comfortable and quit trying.
because I want every day to be an adventure.
Being tame is what we’re taught. …put the crayons back, stay in line, don’t talk too loud, keep your knees together, nice girls don’t… As you know, nice girls DO, and they like to feel wild and alive. Being tame feels safe, being wild, unsafe. Yet safety is an illusion anyway. No matter how dry and tame and nice we live, we will die. We will also suffer along the...
I think people are hyping the ‘cure’ to HIV too much.
First, they gave the man stem cells, which are an extremely expensive and fairly rare commodity. They definitely are not prevalent enough to be a viable cure for the millions of people world wide that have HIV. On top of this, HIV mutates extremely quickly for a virus… will this cure account for that?
on top of this, later...
